Our Her Timer of the Month for January 2025 is Sarah Prieto!

Sarah’s positive energy seeps through despite life’s challenges.  “Her Time in New Haven

came to me at just the right time of my life. Verna {Hicks} has been a blessing to me ever since we met at a community event.  I told her I was an esthetician and loved giving facials. She invited me to Her Time in New Haven, and I went ready to care for anyone who came my way.  We had such a great response that we couldn’t finish everyone! The event was so much fun. I felt the healing with each service I gave. I love what I do!” Sarah is a licensed Esthetician providing skin care, and more importantly, she helps build confidence, self-love, and self-esteem. I was born and raised in the Bronx.  I came to New Haven to finish High School then @ Career High School. I have a great Family. I moved to Florida and then one day I decided I wanted to be back near family, so here I am.  My Father passed away in 2020. He was the biggest influence in my life. He was in the military, and he taught me courage. He made me believe I could do anything I set my mind to. He was militant and believed in hard work and diligence. My son Juan (P.J.) has those characteristics too and I am so proud of him.  My Grandson, Jonah, has a great example.

“I worked in the Bail Bonds Business for over twenty years in Florida. I saw the impact of crime and drugs on the people I served.  I saw the difficulty people had getting back on track and staying out.  I was in the business, and I had NO IDEA there were support groups for people when they re-enter.  What Her Time does is so important. This is especially significant for women as they bear so much of the burden, whether it’s them or supporting a family member. “

“I have been attending Her Time regularly since I found it.  It is unusual for me to speak up in a group.  One week I was listening to people speak honestly about their challenges.  They were sent love and support and everyone listened to them.  When it came to my turn I suddenly told them all the struggles I had been experiencing with a stalker and fear for my safety…. it all came tumbling out.  I felt so much weight come off my shoulders.  I am NEVER leaving Her Time. “

“Looking forward, Her Time has inspired me to help the community.  They helped me recognize that I have so much to offer.  I speak two languages, have business experience, and currently hold a Bail Bond License in Florida.  I am educating myself about podcasts, and other interests and opportunities. I also work with Mary Kay!  The Mary Kay Organization has come a long way.  It costs $35 to become a member and they create a website for you, mentor you, give classes on the products AND you make 50%  on what you sell. I recommend it as a way to start generating income! “  Sarah radiates positivity and energy and is here to support our community in any way possible.

What genre of music do you like? I like Hip Hop and Salsa.

Where would you like to travel?  Bora Bora, the Maldives.  Someplace exotic and HOT!

How do you contribute to your community:  My energy, positivity.  I manage to stay positive even on my worst days.

What is something people may not know about you?  I am very quiet and shy.
